Heat and Inertia

I intended to write sooner, sorry for the delay. It has been very hot here in Santiago - hot enough that I feel blessed to accomplish just one thing each day. Today, I meant to accomplish three things, but it keeps getting later and later and I am thinking the third thing just won’t happen. I didn’t really want to go grocery shopping anyhow. Tomorrow though, that is the only thing I have to do, and by golly, I will do it. I now have clean clothes, so if I can get up the nerve, I can leave the house. I have a clean conscience, or I will have one, as soon as I have finished uploading some pictures and writing a proper journal entry.

I wrote to my school adviser about finding a new place to live. If we aren’t going to be here for many moons, it is going to be difficult to find a place to live. We are restricted to finding bedrooms in an already established flat, or finding a couple of residencias that suit us. The other option is that we can buy a stove and fridge, stay in my current apartment, and hope to god that we can sell the things when it is time to leave. Fernando’s brother may have a crummy old fridge that he is willing to sell for $20. That would be the best. If we got a fridge, the stove wouldn’t be so much to go ahead and buy. Probably between the deposit we’d have to put down, and possibly higher rent, it might even be cheaper. We shall see. It may come to pass that Becca will remain for the month of March. This is kind of the ideal situation, since I don’t know how we are going to go about moving and traveling at the same time! By February 7, Becca and I have agreed to give one another answers. That means, I will be spending this week and the first week of February looking at homes for the Tim and I, and Becca will be looking for homes for the Fernman and her.

Since my parents left, I have been incredibly lazy. I have had the best intentions to get stuff done, but I haven’t accomplished much. I don’t know how much I will manage to write between now and when Tim arrives, but I would like to take the opportunity to summarize my travels with my family. I am thinking of you all, and I love you, even if I don’t often get around to writing. I am going to break our vacation up into several posts so that it hurts your eyes less, and so I can find them later.
